"As a citizen of Kansas City, I have always been interested in city, county and state government matters and how it affects each of us. I've come to a point in my life where I have decided to no longer sit on the sidelines, but to hopefully serve my community and represent the residents of House District 16 interests on the state government level."

I will bring the work ethic and common sense values I learned from my family to Jefferson City. I was raised in a family where my Dad worked in construction and was a lifetime member of Pipefitters #533 and my mother was a union checker for the A&P grocery store. They worked hard for their family and demonstrated an exemplary work effort that has been passed down to my generation. I'm an active Catholic with moderate views. I practice kindness and compassion toward anyone who crosses paths with me.
I grew up in the northeast area of Kansas City and graduated from Northeast High School in 1972. During my youth I worked at Sears and attended Penn Valley Community College and UMKC where I studied business administration.
My high school sweetheart, Trudy, and I were married in 1986 and celebrated our 32nd anniversary this year. We have one grown daughter, Gil Marie. We have been residents of "north of the river" and lived in District 16 for 22 years. We love the northland and the people who reside here.
For the majority of my adult life I have been a small business owner, operating various for profit businesses. Through my education and operation of my businesses I've learned the need for budgets, accountability and other necessary business practices while concentrating on excellent customer service and positive outcomes. I've also been a landlord with multiple rental properties. I was also instrumental in purchasing land and helping the development of a 52 unit senior housing complex and served as their treasurer.
Starting at a young age and continuing through today, I have been involved in volunteer activity to help my community become a better place. I've been highly involved on boards and committees with the City of Kansas City, Missouri whose actions impact the northland as well as other parts of the city. I've been involved or supported a number of civic organizations including the National MS Society, Knights of Columbus, the Water Garden Society of Greater Kansas City, Harvesters - The Food Network, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Don Bosco Nationality Center, Catholic Charities Education Board, Independence Chamber of Commerce, St. Mary's School Board, American Heart Association, KC Italian Festival, KC Irish Festival and Fiesta Hispana KC.
It's been a lifelong desire of mine to be of assistance to others. I'm a good listener and look objectively at issues and problems, then seek common sense solutions. Everyone's thoughts and opinions are worth hearing and I will be that person that will listen. Forward-thinking policies to benefit the people of northern Kansas City will be my main objective if elected.
